The pressure is on ship owners and operators to provide fast, reliable connectivity, low latency, increased capacity, and easy access to online services for the benefit of all crew and passengers.
Onboard services can be relocated onshore at reduced cost. Existing networks can be enhanced to raise levels of security and safety. Improved access to a digital lifestyle and entertainment onboard can help win loyalty, so customers come back for more.
OneWeb offers flexible and reliable connectivity plans that will transform how cruise ships are connected. With faster and larger data allowances, vessel operations can be enhanced, maximising efficiencies and fleet performance. Whats's more, passengers will have an improved experience and crew welfare will be increased.
- Higher throughput and greater capacity than current alternative solutions.
- Low latency unlocks the use of latency-sensitive applications and cloud solutions.
- Flexible service plans designed to meet the demands of cruise operators.
Cruise, ferry, passenger and yacht customers are now able to experience abundant and high-speed internet as they would in their homes. Social media, facetime, Teams calls – office away from the office, connect with families, friends etc.
In today's world safeguarding crew welfare requires reliable, affordable, available connectivity as a human right. OneWeb believes that this should apply to all crew onboard all ships at sea.
Ship owners and operators are looking for new ways to optimize vessel performance. Working with vessels at sea as if in a normal office environment can be a crucial differentiator.
A new class of
Range & design
Our maritime UTs are designed and manufactured to the highest specifications, to operate in the harshest ocean environments.
Our most powerful systems are still a fraction of the cost of conventional satcom equipment fitted on passenger vessels today.
Our low Earth orbit antennas are higher throughput and smaller size than traditional satcom equipment, making them easy to transport. Their design also makes them easy to install, with a Customer Network eXchange (CNX) unit for power and data cables.
Our parabolic antennas range from 85cm (33") in diameter and 77cm (30") tall, down to 69cm (27”) and 55cm (22”) tall. Size, weight and footprint is reduced, and they are designed to operate in extreme temperatures; down to -40degree C.
Innovation & deployment
We have teamed with the leading antenna and hardware manufactuers to produce our cost-effective UTs, designed specifically for the maritime market.
OneWeb's low Earth orbit (LEO) UTs deliver enterprise-grade, low latency and high-speed connectivity at sea.
Just like our satellites, our UTs are manufactured to the highest specifications, following the latest advancements in low Earth orbit technology. This allows us to meet the key market-specific requirements for the Maritime sector in the most remote locations on Earth.
Maintaining your UTs
OneWeb's maritime UTs can be remotely monitored, updated and maintained using our self-service tools. This means fast, responsive technical assistance when required.
Through OneWeb’s Device Hub, partners have remote access and control of each UT, allowing real-time data monitoring using our industry-leading technology. Diagnostics and firmware actions can be carried out quickly and easily. Service Hub provides access to product and service support, as well as the ability to monitor and resolve incidents.
Our 24/7 Customer Technical Assistance Centre (CTAC) connects partners directly to our technical experts. Account Hub handles all your account admin, allowing partners to respond the the needs of their customers.

OneWeb and The AST Group partner to broaden access to fast, seamless connectivity at sea
The shipping industry aims to be net zero by 2050 and understands the need to act quickly. It already accounts for around 3% of total global carbon emissions. Left unchecked, this could rise to around 17% by 2050.
70% of the world’s surface is covered by oceans. OneWeb’s mission is to connect these oceans and herald a new era of smarter shipping.
