Offshore & Energy
OneWeb understands where the future for renewable energies and offshore markets lies in de-risking operations, balancing decarbonisation, and environmental mitigation.
Greater connectivity, with improved resilience and reliability, cuts through existing barriers and adds potential for new operations and applications, including AI and automation, to optimise, reduce risk, and enable remote monitoring and control.
OneWeb has developed flexible, scalable, and reliable service plans designed specifically for the unique demands of the offshore industry.
Our plans enable faster and larger data allowances, helping the offshore industry improve and optimise their operations, while also improving the welfare of crew and contractors for the duration of their time offshore.
• Higher capacity and higher throughput than alternative offshore connectivity solutions today.
• Low latency that unlocks latency-sensitive applications and future-ready technology.
• Flexible service plans enabling, offshore operations to be streamlined with shore-based control centers.
Renewing the future
for offshore markets
for offshore markets
Offshore operations for oil & gas and wind farms consist of a vast array of different activities and requirements, each with critical and unique connectivity requirements for safety and efficiency.
Ship owners and operators are looking for new ways to optimize vessel performance. Working with vessels at sea as if in a normal office environment can be a crucial differentiator.
In today's world safeguarding crew welfare requires reliable, affordable, available connectivity as a human right. OneWeb believes that this should apply to all crew onboard all ships at sea.
A new class of Maritime
Range & design
Our Offshore parabolic UTs are designed and constructed to operate in harsh the offshore environment. Our most powerful antennas are a fraction of the cost of traditional hardware - and we have achieved this through he innovation in our technology.
The size of OneWeb's low Earth orbit antennas makes them easy to transport; and their design means they are simple to install, along with with a Customer Network eXchange (CNX) unit which provides the power and data connection.
The parabolic antennas range in size from 69cm (27”) diameter and 55cm (22”) tall, to 85cm (33") in diameter and 77cm (30") tall. The antennas can operate in extreme temperatures, as low as -40degree C.
Innovation & deployment
We have carefully selected our global partners to design, manufacture, and deliver our cost-effective, small footprint range of UTs designed specifically for the offshore industry.
OneWeb's offshore UTs are designed to work in the most challenging environments, while delivering high-speed, low latency connectivity to remote locations.
We follow the same approach to engineering our UTs as we do with engineering our satellites, to meet both current and future requirements specific to the offshore environment.
OneWeb has successfully deployed UTs in some of the most remote locations in the world, and we support fulfilment services for our partners.
Managing your UTs
Using cloud-based and self-service tools, OneWeb offers frequent monitoring, upgrades, and remote maintenance of offshore UTs; we also facilitate rapid, technical support for high priority issues.
With the use of our industry-leading technology, OneWeb's Device Hub provides partners direct access each UT, allowing them to conduct firmware updates and perform diagnostic tests as well as monitor real-time data. This lessens the demand for, and expense of in-person servicing. Partners have access to product and service support, a knowledge base, and the capacity to proactively monitor and address problems thanks to Service Hub.
For further help and troubleshooting, our Customer Technical Assistance Centre (CTAC) links partners with our own experts 24/7. Account Hub manages contracts, quotes, and orders in a single, secure location so that partners can provide first-rate customer service.

OneWeb and The AST Group partner to broaden access to fast, seamless connectivity at sea
The shipping industry aims to be net zero by 2050 and understands the need to act quickly. It already accounts for around 3% of total global carbon emissions. Left unchecked, this could rise to around 17% by 2050.
70% of the world’s surface is covered by oceans. OneWeb’s mission is to connect these oceans and herald a new era of smarter shipping.
